Katie Holmes’s latest hair: gone!

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Katie Holmes just debuted her latest haircut, a shorn crop that’s only a few scissor-snips away from GI Jane territory.  What do you think: love it, hate it, or couldn’t care less?  (In which case, I say to you: Which celebrity does get your beauty motor revving?)

PS: I love it.  Seriously.  Love it.

Kristen Bell at the Teen Choice Awards

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Former girl-crush Kristen Bell debuted a new hairstyle last night at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards, with choppy bangs and layered, wispy ends.  She walked by my seat several times and I didn’t realize it was her until after she’d passed by me for the third time.  I have a haircut this Saturday at the Nelson J. salon…I think this is the cut I’m requesting!

She’s smiling here, but she looked positively miserable last night.  Seriously, she really didn’t seem to be enjoying herself.

Hayden Panettiere cuts off her hair

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Sure, Hayden Panettiere is the, oh, seventeenth Hollywood starlet to chop all her hair off–but I think it’s adorable and very fresh.  I’m contemplating a crop of my own…what do you think?

Rihanna’s haircut: terrific or too much?

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

D. and I were watching videos last night, as you do, and we saw Rihanna’s latest, “Take a Bow,” which led to a very serious discussion over whether her new haircut is the hottest thing ever, or just too much.  I waver: it makes her cheekbones look so beautiful they should be insured, and it also sets off her gorgeous face.  Then again, her hair was swoon! stylish before too, and just because you look prettier than 99.9% of the population no matter what’s on your head doesn’t mean you should, say, buzz it, which is all that’s left for her to do.  Things to ponder.

But, you know, I think I love it.

Gwyneth’s recent chop

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Sure, I’ve been a little busy recently, but how have we not discussed La Gwyneth’s haircut?  (Apologies.)  I am very, very much on the fence.  Which is to say…I want to love it, I could love it, I am just so damn close to loving the idea of it…but I hate it.  What do you think?  Am I crazy?  Is the liberation of her hair from blonde Morticia Addams-land actually a masterstroke on her part?  Or does it just look, well, weird?

Short Hair for an Evening

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Inspired by my roommate’s cute bob (which was, in turn, inspired by Katie Holmes’s fabulous Pob), I gave myself a fake haircut yesterday, pulling half of my hair back into a bun, and letting the choppy front down around my face.  I went out for the evening with my hair in the fake bob, and liked it so much that I’m contemplating cutting it off officially…although, let’s be real.  I’ve been growing my hair for too long to throw it all away.  (You know how it goes.  You spend two years growing your hair out, whimsically chop it all off in two minutes…then immediately start growing it out again.  It’s a vicious cycle.)  Random note: at the end of the evening, I took my hair down, and was immediately accosted by a sweet girl who claimed mine was her “dream hair” and spent five minutes taking pictures to show her stylist.  (Amazingly versatile haircut courtesy of Paul-Jean on Robertson!)

In other news, I have a serious problem; I can’t stop taking photos of myself.  It’s one of my dirty little secrets, and has been for years.  (The photo folder on my computer is just plain embarrassing.)  Some of the results of my compulsion, below:

Return of the Katie-Bot!

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Jezebel asks the question: Katie Holmes, Stunning or Scary?  You know, while first looking at this picture, I thought, “Stunning!”  But then I looked a little harder into her eyes, and my blood ran cold.  (What do you think?) Regardless, I am digging La Kate’s hair so much this year that I can’t even deal with it.  And little Suri?  I don’t care that people are speculating she may be the spawn of L. Ron Hubbard.  She is still the cutest baby in the history of the world and melts my cold baby-fearing heart more than I’d like to admit.   (And, seriously, it’s just sad when you’re jealous of a toddler’s wardrobe.)
