I simply can’t be bothered with facials.  Not only do I find them boring as hell (give me a full-body massage any day!), but they also make my finicky skin break out nine times in ten–and I don’t buy that nonsense about your skin getting worse before it gets better.  (Yes, yes, I understand the idea…but following most of my facials, zits spring up because of the pore-clogging oils used during the treatment, I’m telling you!)  Now, exfoliation…glycolic acid…fruit enzymes…these are concepts I can get behind.  Something that can be done in one minute, in the shower?  Even better!  I tested out Clean and Clear Soft In-Shower Facial this weekend—you slather it on while in the shower, let the enzymes and acids do their complexion-smoothing thing, and then rinse it off—and while it wasn’t a Presto! The latest beauty brand I’m completely smitted with is Fenix Cosmetics, a cosmeceutical line sold at spas and dermatologist offices.  The offerings are specifically designed for women with problematic complexions—rosacea, acne, sensitive-skin and the like—and it’s hard to pick just one favorite, although I’m partial to the Green Tea Toner.  In general, I think toners are a crock of BS–mostly just marketing tools preying on our nearly-universal desire to get skin as…clean…as…possible.  The Green Tea Toner isn’t so much a toner, however, as an antioxidant boosting treatment you can use after cleanser and before moisturizer.  Other must-check out products?  White Tea Hydrating Lotion for body (with neroli, jasmine, citrus and bergamot–it smells divine!), Intensive Recovery Serum (excellent for redness-prone skin that needs extra protection from the elements and aging), and Rehydrating Sunscreen SPF 30 (a broad-spectrum lotion that provides beach-level protection while still sinking into skin quickly and deeply enough to avoid that nasty oily film that comes with so many other sunscreens).  Fenix loves Jolie back, and is not only giving all Jolie in NYC readers a 25% discount off all purchases if you enter the code “jolienyc” while checking out, but is also giving away ten free Rehydrating Sunscreens to the first gals to purchase from the website using the code.  Happy shopping!
