Pictures from our charity beauty sale

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

I apologize for taking so long to upload the photos from last month’s charity beauty sale - we raised $651 for City of Hope’s Beauty Can Cure fundraiser, and I hope it was the first of many charity events to come!

One of the skincare tables

Makeup, perfume, nail polish and “swag bags”

Nice, neat and organized…before the beauty vultures happily descended!

Literally five minutes after the sale began, it was packed

And, sadly, we sold out almost instantly.  Onto the next charity sale!  Thank you to everybody who came!

Charity Beauty Sale

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Thank you to everybody who came to Jolie’s charity beauty sale yesterday; special thanks to Clean and Clear, Lubriderm and Neutrogena, who all generously donated products!  We raised $651 dollars for the Beauty Can Cure fundraiser for City of Hope!  Pictures to come soon.

More photos from the Cannes amFAR benefit

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

Hey, why not?  It’s Friday and I’m feeling tired; looking at pretty photos is all I can really handle right now.

madonna_amfar.jpg

I think Madonna looks beautiful and all peachy-glowy, but I’m not digging her roots

diane_kruger_josh_jackson_amfar.jpg

Diane Kruger’s hair and makeup are stunning, and so is the dress in theory, but it does nothing for her (gorgeous) figure.  Can we call a moratorium on potato-sack dresses, even super-expensive gilded ones?

maryjblige_amfar.jpg

Mary J. Blige is gorge…but no smile?  You’re in Cannes, my dear!  Lighten up!

rose_mcgowan_amfar.jpg

Rose McGowan is crazy witchy here; all she needs is a broomstick and caldron!  Regardless, the red hair is stunning against her pale skin

dita_von_teese_amfar.jpg

I don’t understand Dita Von Teese’s appeal; can somebody please explain to me?  (Maybe I just have a mental block because the Blogger Who Shall Not Be Named loves her.)  Gorgeous dress, but the jet black hair is too harsh, especially when combined with blood red lips and markered-on eyebrows

natalia_vodianova.jpg

Natalia Vodianova is a fascinating example of the “takes gorgeous photographs” versus “is actually pretty in person” conundrum; she’s one of the most beautiful models in the world, yet whenever she’s on a red carpet, she’s verging on plain.  Love her anyway!

Fundraiser for Meadow Quinn

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Shannon from A Girl’s Gotta Spa is holding a wonderful fundraiser that I hope we can help draw more attention to:

“I’m throwing a fundraiser for a 7 year old girl in my town. It includes auctions of MAC Cosmetics Limited Edition products and other auctions from brand name companies.

The little girl is Meadow Quinn and she has Neurofibromatosis (it causes tumors to grown on nerve endings). She has been on a feeding tube since she was 18 months old due to the disease, but a 4-week feeding clinic at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia will be able to teach her to eat like any other child. The big obstacle is that her insurance company has refused to pay for it. She needs to raise $70,000. So far $42,000 has been raised.

The link is: http://gottaspa.blogspot.com/2008/04/beauty-for-good-fundraiser-for-meadow.html and the fund-raiser is through the end of May. (I am offering a 1-week ad spot for any fashion and beauty brands who donate $100+ to Meadow via the ChipIn widget.)”

I can’t think of a more worthy cause; please visit the link and contribute if you’re able!

Love for Clean and Clear

Monday, April 21st, 2008

A gigantic thank you to Clean and Clear, who generously donated a massive box of products to our upcoming charity beauty sale!  The sale is tentatively scheduled for Sunday May 18th, and a $15 donation will buy twenty products (we’ve got Chanel, Bobbi Brown, Avon, Neutrogena, Bare Escentuals, Lancome, Phyto, MAC, and so, so, so much more) with any additional products available for $1 each.  The first twenty-four women to attend and donate $15 will each receive a Clean and Clear Oil-Free Oxygenating Ultra-Light Moisturizer SPF 15 (I’ve tried it, and it’s super-light and fresh and won’t clog pores), Clean and Clear Oxygenating Fizzy Cleanser, and Clean and Clear Morning Burst Shine Control Facial Scrub.  I have a special place in my heart for Clean and Clear, as their wondrous Oil-Absorbing Sheets are among my favorite products of all time.  Sure, there are other, fancier brands that also make nice oil-blotting papers…but why pay a ton when Clean and Clear works so well?  More expensive is not always better!

If you’re in LA and would like more information about the sale (unfortunately, at this point, space is limited), would like to make a donation to the Beauty Can Cure fundraiser for City of Hope, or are a company interested in donating products, please email me at nadine@jolienadine.com.  Thanks!

Beauty Can Cure

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

To everybody who wrote and posted their thoughts, comments and prayers for my mother, thank you so much—it means more than you know to be blessed with your amazing support!  I’m going to Dallas next week to visit my mom in the hospital, and I’m both nervous and excited; somehow, because I am apparently in the running for the Worst Daughter Ever award, I haven’t seen Mama Jolie since August 2006.  (How is that even possible?)  I’m bringing two suitcases with me; one for my belongings, and one for the organic and paraben/sulfite/preservative-free products that I’m squirreling away to present her with.  I’ve finally picked a charity for my beauty sale with D., too: we’ll be donating all the proceeds to Beauty Can Cure on behalf of City of Hope.  The more I read about their fundraising efforts, the more excited I get, and so now, of course, I won’t be satisfied until I’ve raised one biiiillion dollars for charity!  (Well, obviously, every little bit counts, so if I raise even one hundred dollars, at least it’s something!)  If you’d like to get involved, I’d be delighted; email me at nadine@jolienadine.com and I’ll send you the address to mail your checks, which can be made to “City of Hope” and should have “Beauty Can Cure Fundraiser” in the memo line.  More to come soon!
