Studio BeautyMix at Fred Segal is the go-to beauty mecca in Los Angeles, thanks in no small part to visionary founder Robin Coe-Hutshing.  Recently, Studio brought on board a new CEO, Nicole Ostoya (who’s beautiful, smart and awesome!), and the fresh blood has given Studio a jolt of creative energy.

Last week, I scraped myself off the couch and briefly re-entered the land of the living at a launch party for their new Studio Beauty Channel.  Helloooo, hipster!  The channel is crammed with innovative videos such as their Mascara Cry Test (blogger Alexi Wasser tests various mascaras while watching DVDs of sad movies) and Lip Gloss Kiss Off, in which a beautiful young gal applies lipgloss, and then some hot sexy thing smooches it off.  (Actually, the videos kind of make me blush.  Who knew I was such a prude?)

It’s all verrrry edgy and stylized, and is way too cool for granny Jolie, who is an earnest pearls and polo dork with zero ironic tendencies…but just because I’m lame-o doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate the vids’ inherent coolness all the same.  I mean, seriously!  Pretty people making out…plus makeup!  Hot.
