Insider Obsession: Biologique Recherche

If you’re an avid Jolie Nadine reader, then you already know about Nadine’s skin saviors (Bare Escentuals, Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash, etc.) but while we were out the other night, I filled Nadine on my own insider beauty secret- Biologique Recherche.

For some quick background info, I was the girl you hated in high school because she had perfect skin. I had maybe five zits until the age of 22, and then one day I came to a realization…I had adult acne. It started out as 2 cystic pimples on one side of my face that I actually thought were bug bites (not kidding), but when they didn’t go away after about two months, I became a bit concerned. Because I had waited so long to go to the derm, they had become deeply imbedded into my cheek and she couldn’t even give me a Hydrocortisone shot to kill the bacteria.

As someone who works in the beauty industry, I had every skin solution resource at my fingertips- the best derms in New York City, free or publicist-swapped beauty products and most importantly, the knowledge of how to win the war against acne. After visiting a top Upper East Side dermatologist, I began taking oral antibiotics in conjunction with some topical treatments that didn’t really do much besides dry my skin out. I went back to the doctor and switched to a brand new “just hit the market” oral antibiotic that was getting “rave reviews”…a slight improvement but I was still getting one to two zits per week. I struggled and continued to take the oral antibiotics for about another seven months before I was introduced to my skin’s savior- Biologique Recherche.

I’m not going to lie to you, Biologique Recherche is a complex skincare line that really does need to be explained to you by a professional. I was lucky enough to visit the amazing Aida Bicaj who owns the Institute de beaute on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Aida is one of those people who just knows everything when it comes to skincare and she’s not afraid to tell you. Aida flat out told me that my skin is way too dry on the surface and oily in the layers below and that’s why I was having problems with acne. She doesn’t believe that dermatologists have a real solution to skincare and, she has many, many loyal clients that will agree (celebrities included). She prescribed my exact Biologique Recherche regimen for my specific skin type, as a crucial part of maintaining clear, healthy skin is having a routine regimen. Here’s my daily rundown:

Lait VIP 02 – a creamy, gentle cleanser that does a great job of getting off makeup without drying out the skin
Lotion P50 – the crucial element in my skincare regimen. A liquid (looks and feels like a toner) that exfoliates the skin better than any scrub could ever do. When you first start using this, it tingles and burns a bit but I actually liked the feeling and saw results immediately. In fact, I accidentally forgot my bottle when I drove across country and I complained every single night that my skin didn’t feel clean…I also got two zits after a week of not using it! (ok, they were teeny, tiny zits but I haven’t had ANY zits in over a year!)
Crème Dermopurifiante – An intense moisturizer that really locks in moisture and reduces redness cause by acne and rosacea. This product does not smell pretty (due to all the natural ingredients) but it REALLY works. It soaks right into the skin and my face stays moisturized all day.  (Plus, no breakouts!)

I really can’t stress enough how much this skincare line has changed my life. Not only is my adult acne completely gone, but I’ve also seen an improvement in my overall skin tone and texture. You can buy the products online here or call 1.800.755.5270 for spa locations.

    Treatment for Acne:

    Hello Jamie,
Good to know about Biologique Recherche Methodology. After reading your thoughts on the same, I do agree it’s one of the most effective methods in skincare domain. Acne in itself is stressful! It is necessary to get professional treatment for acne as the cause for acne differs.
