Reader Tip: Bond No. 9 Nuits de Noho
M. writes:
“As a lifelong beauty junkie (passed down from my mother at a very young age) I am a long-time reader of your blog and I enjoy it very much. I am writing in regards to your fragrance post from yesterday. It sounds as though we have similar taste and I felt compelled to share with you my signature scent - my favorite ever! Drumroll… Nuits de Noho, by Bond No. 9 Pricey, but worth it. I discovered it at Saks a couple of years ago and have loved it ever since. I am complimented on it every single day (by both men and women). I also wear So New York (also by Bond) in the evening, if I want to change it up.”
So, ladies, I’m curious…what’s your signature scent?

Capucine by Fragonard, described in this way on their website: Light-hearted accents of green tea and bergamot, an engaging bouquet of rose and jasmine, the pensive accords of musk and winter woods.

Lovely by SJP and occasionally Dolly Girl by Anna Sui.

I am not a HUGE lover of frangrances. I have loads, but I keep going back to Beach by Bobbi Brown. It makes me happy, and really suits me. Everytime I wear it to a party/function, someone compiments me. They love the smell, but just cannot place what it is…the smell of sun drenched skin, coppertone, and heaven!!!

Ps I actually dont wear a fragrance at all in the summer as I live at our cottage, and bugs LOVE fragrance, so I wear this all fall/winter/spring. I am in Canada, and it reminds me that the snow is going to go away, and I;ll be at the beach soon!!!

Lovely for me as well, Viva la Juicy at night.

Chanel #19 is the one I use the most, with Mademoiselle as the alternate.

Also thanks to a fantastically helpful Sephora employee, I’ve been wearing Hanae Mori Butterfly for years. In warmer weather, I switch to Fleur de Vigne by Caudalie.

Ahh, Mademoiselle, I love it so. Chanel no. 5 really bums me out, though - I think it’s disgusting.

Nothing like the ORIGINAL, made in France, Givenchy L’Interdit. I have a good stash thanks to Ebay. I did pick up 2 bottles at Harrod’s of the reissue, just for emergencies, but it’s not the same without the real bergamot–something about France and this ingredient being banned I think. This summer it’s been Coco Mademoiselle or Estee Lauder Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia (but just 2 sprays as it is quite LOUD). I will always remember my mother’s Tous Je Moi (sp? but it means Always Mine.). A drug store brand, but perfect on her. Shortly after she died I woke up one night and swore I could smell her in the room! Very reassuring.

All winter my favorite scent is QUELQUES FLEURS by Houbigant. Nothing is better if you ask me. I couldn’t love it more!

I’ve been wearing Stella by Stella McCartney for years but I now have a new favorite (Thanks to Beauty Confidential!) Narciso Rodriguez for Her… Thanks Jolie!

Cabotine de Gres… but the secret is to put it on before you shower. Straight, it’s too strong, but the half-washed-off scent is intoxicating.
I’m also partial to Pure by Alfred Sung.

Years ago, I started wearing Happy by Clinique and was repeatedly told by different people how good I smelled whenver I tore it. I’m guessing it’s true what they say about scent being related to your body chemistry, because I’ve smelled scents on others and tried them out to find that I didn’t care for them at all on me. If that’s the case, then Happy must just work well for me because I’ve been wearing it for years and the guys I dated went crazy for it. Even now, it’s my husband’s favorite scent on me.
When I want to switch it up, I wear Beauitful Sheer by Estee Lauder because it’s so soft and feminine and romantic that I just feel…well, for lack of a better word, beautiful!

Yummy, I wish I were at Sephora now! Julie, I like Hanae Mori Butterfly, too. So many good recommendations here, girls!

Burberry Brit in the fall, winter, and spring. And Michael Kors Island in the summer. But Burberry Brit is my favorite — I always miss it when I’m not wearing it!

My favorite is another Bond No. 9 scent, Eau de New York. It starts off quite green smelling, but nicely tapers off to a more subtly orange blossom scent.

Well… I have to say that my favorite scent EVER (newly discovered) is Lavanila’s Vanilla Grapefruit. I really recommend that you get a sample from Sephora: it is the sweetest, most divine scent. I love it! It’s quite fresh, not really sophisticated, but that suits me since I’m young at heart

I LOVE perfume–it’s probably my favorite beauty product. I adore fragrance and I like to change it up, though I usually end up with my old standards: SJP Lovely, Narciso Rodriguez and Dior J’adore during the fall and winter; and then Versace Bright Crystal, Estee Lauder Pure White Linen Light Breeze (ridiculous name, lovely scent) and Burberry Summer (probably my all time fave–along with Narciso!) during the spring and summer.

Marc Jacobs, Bond No. 9 Chinatown, and Burberry Brit (fall/winter). For the spring/summer I also love Bond No. 9’s Chelsea Flowers and Scent of Peace, but I haven’t bought them because I can’t decide which one!

Silver Mountain Water by Creed. I have been wearing this fragrance for 6 years now and I never cease to get compliments on how good I smell. I once had a woman approach me on the street in NYC because she was walking behind me and loved the scent and wanted to know what it was!
