I guess they imagine their audience must not have oily hair that they can go around without washing it. I could fry an egg in mine after one day unfortunately and I certainly wouldn't go out in public without a shampoo even if I spent the requisite five minutes curling it (in which time I could make it about a quarter of the way around my head).
