Vi Peel update
It’s been three days since I had my Vi Peel, and the phenol acid, vitamin C and Retin-A peel is working wonders…if by “wonders” I were to actually mean “is causing every last ounce of my skin to kamikaze dive off my face in unattractive, flaky sheets.” Pictures of the disgusting-yet-effective madness to follow shortly!

are you out and about or are you hiding at home type of flaking? I’m really curious about the Vi- their website has promising before and after pics- is it real?

I’m on my 3rd day, and my face is puffed out, red, and starting to get really stiff. I hope by tomorrow it’s starting to peel. It’s so itchy that it’s annoying. You just want to scratch it off, but of COURSE I don’t!
I had to go on anti inflammatory pills to bring down the puffiness. Yesterday (2nd day) was the worst and I was going through torture. My face was on fire and itching, and completely swollen to the point I looked like a monster. Today it went down just a tiny bit, and by tomorrow I’m hoping I’m depuffed. I’ll update once I get my final results.

Amanda, I promise it gets better. Today, Sunday, my face finally looks and feels normal. I’ll upload some before/after pictures once I take them! Day 2 was the worst for me, too, as far as redness and itching, but days 3 and 4 were the worst with shedding. I’ve been going out, but I’ll wash my face and apply a LOT of moisturizer before doing so, and find myself apologizing to people for my appearance way too often.

You and Amanda deserve an award after this ordeal. Not only for going out for drinks with your chin flaking off, but for posting before and after pics.
I had this idea to have a peel done too……

Ok, so for me, it’s day 5, and the only place that’s left to peel is a bit on my forehead and a couple of patches on my cheekbones where she concentrated on more b/c of my pigmentation from wonderful bc pills.
Anyway, my case isn’t the best to listen to probably, b/c I’m super sensitive to Retin-A and have broken out in a itchy red rash when I used the cream years ago. I know the VI Peel has a bit of it in it along with phenol, tca, and vitamins A and C but I think it was the towelette that killed me the 2nd day. I not only was on fire and bright red and itchy, (which I hear is quite normal) but my face (I’m not kidding) blew up like a big red balloon. I was so scared, but took methylprednisolone anti-imflammatory pills and it brought it down gradually over the next two days. It even took away the “heat” in my skin pretty quickly too. That was the worst part for me, not knowing what was happening as my face blew up bigger and bigger. If you are not sensitive to Retin A then I would say do this peel. I’ll know how my skin looks for sure probably by tomorrow (day 6) and for sure by day 7.
Jolie, I can’t believe you were able to go out! That’s brave! But, then again, maybe you didn’t look like a red hot air balloon.

I’ve been having technical issues preventing me from uploading pictures. As soon as I *can*, I will!

I just had this peel done on June 19th, so this is Day 5 (if you count peel day as Day 1). On Day 2 I looked like I had a great suntan or had used a bit too much bronzer. No swelling, no pain. On Day 3 & 4 the skin started to peel. Pretty ugly sight but not bad enough to stay home. I used plenty of moisturizer and applied a little heavier than normal amount to foundation. This actually worked out well since it seems to stop the flaking while the make up is on your face. I am 60 years old with olive skin - not in bad condition, some fine lines and pigmentation. My skin looks GREAT already and I am not finished peeling yet. I am already booking my next appoitment for Sept. I should mention that I have had chemical peels in the past with very little noticeable results - just burning skin.

Hi everyone,
I am considering having this peel done in a couple of days. I am african american with a light to tan skin tone. A bit nervous, and was wondering if anyone out there of the same race has had this peel done.

Kay, according to the literature and company, the peel is especially effective on african-american skin, but I don’t personally know this to be true, unfortunately.

Hello, I am african american with carmel complexion. I had the VI Peel yesterday (6/27/08) My wedding is July 19th 2008. I have good skin. There was only one problem I had, which was an acne scar left on my nose. She recommended the VI Peel. When they first applied it, it seriously burned. It did start to subside, but when I got in my car and started to drive home, it started to burn like hell. The next day I woke up, I already started to flake alittle. Plus, my skin is very itchy and red like I was roasting in an oven. I put the moisturizer on, and my skin started to burn. My skin is sensitive. I think it was too harsh for me. I wouldnt get it again. I would get the micodermibrasion if I spelled it right, and stick to that.

Help! I completely screwed up dates for a shower I have to go to, where I will be seeing people I have not seen for 12 years…it is this Saturday, and I had a VI Peel done this past Tuesday the 8. WHAT AM I GOIG TO LOOK LIKE?? This is my first VI Peel, though I have done IPL,TCA, microderm., glycolic…so my skin is not a stranger to peeling. Saturday is day 5…anyone out there have any insight???

Hi,
I’m African-American and had the Vi Peel. I loved it!
OMG!! Flawless skin. I have to warn you…you will peel like a snake. I peeled for almost two weeks!
The results, as I indicated, was flawless skin. My advice, if you have to attend an event, have it done at least two to three weeks ahead of time.

Hi,
I am a 29yr old fair skinned woman with EXTREMELY sensitive skin. I have light freckling and a bit of melasma as well (thank you bc pills). I have tried a multitude of products, peels, and crystal-less microderm. A few weeks ago I had a punch tool biopsy for skin cancer on my cheek. The dermatologist recommended that I have a Vi peel to help eliminiate any pre-cancerous cells on my face.
I had the peel done 3 days ago (we avoided the tiny area where my biopsy was), and I am just starting to peel around my mouth. The peel itself was painful-but not enough to deter me from having another. I took an anti-inflammatory a few hours before the procedure, a few hours after, and the following day.
I am trying REALLY REALLY hard not to pull at the skin that is peeling. I went to work today and a look a little clown-like b/c of the redness around my mouth where the skin has peeled away and the new skin has been revealed. (Most of my office is away this week-definately do not do this peel if you have to meet with clients/ have an event the same week!)
I did use the Vi sunscreen today (burned a little)-but avoided the moisturizer b/c I am so sensitive. In conclusion, I am satisfied and excited so far! I will post again in a few days!
