Will somebody please explain the appeal of the Jonas Brothers?

I mean, really.  I don’t get it.  I’m sure they are positively lovely boys, and they’re certainly well-groomed, and maybe they can even sing (I’ve never heard any of their songs, and I wouldn’t be too sad if it stayed that way).  I’d like to think, however, that if I were a nine-year-old girl, I’d have better taste.  Just sayin’.

Of course, as Jolie started thinking about teenage girls and heartthrobs, she took a walk down memory lane and remembered her own first crush.  I loved him.  I adored him.  I knew we were meant to be together.  (Um, I was also about seven.)

Yes, the very first love of my life was Kurt from The Sound of Music.  No judging.

My taste eventually progressed.  Lover number two was Kirk Cameron.  Feathered curls + matching red denim = hot.

When I was ten, I wanted to throw my cotton days-of-the-week panties at Luke Perry.  His People magazine cover was the first celebrity image to grace my walls.

I somehow bypassed New Kids on the Block (although if I had been a fan, I would have totally been all over Joey, like my friends who had the sleeping bags and the socks and toothbrushes and lunchboxes and…well, you remember).  Middle school was a dark period in Jolie’s celebrity crushdom.  She focused on 12-year-old M., who didn’t know she existed but looked so sexy and tortured in his flannel shirts.

Finally, when I was thirteen, I landed on Eddie Vedder…and it was all over.  To this day, Eddie remains the one celebrity I could not meet without being reduced to a squealing, giggling, “But do you understand how much you mean to me??” mess.  Lord help him if our paths ever cross.

Dude, if you were a 9 year old girl right now, you would be ALL over the Jonas Brothers. Unfortunately I can report that I have heard a couple of their songs (I blame American Idol and the fact that the only videos played on MTV are made by 12-year-olds) - they’re not good, but I’m not a 9 year old girl. I won’t deny that if I was 9 I would think that they were “ohmygodsooooooocute”!

My first concert ever will be the Jonas Brothers. :-D Truthfully, I’d rather my first concert be something that…um…my friends will not tease me profusely for. But whatever. It will be fun…being surrounded by so many crying/screaming/sobbing little girls.

Umm…I think their appeal has to do with their genuinely nice and grounded dispositions. Or at least that’s why I like them. Their music isn’t my taste (if I was younger in the Backstreet Boys era, I would be head over heels for them), but I can’t say that their songs and beats are not catchy or memorable (because they are and can get stuck in your head for weeks). Or maybe my family watches too much Disney channel and Disney brainwashed us to adore and worship the Jonas Brothers. I’m not sure.

And if you were around the age of 9, you’d probably be like my little sister and all of her friends who call them “The Bogus Brothers.”

Kurt from the Sound of Music rocks. I used to want to be a Von Trapp! That said, seeing Eddie Vedder in concert drinking from a bottle of wine? Sorta hot.
Don’t really get the appeal of the Jonas Bros at all either though.

One of my piano students made me listen to ‘Year 3000′ and I nearly croaked.

I’m hoping someone (possibly me) turns her on to Zeppelin soon.

I can tell you exactly why girls love the Jonas Brothers. I was a makeup artist on a couple of their magazine shoots, adn I have to say, they are the most well mannered, sweet, kind, and well raised young boys I’ve ever met. They are truly adorable inside and out. And oh so talented!!!!
    Props to their parents!
