Ashlee Simpson changing her last name to Wentz
Ashlee Simpson is legally changing her name to Ashlee Wentz, reports People magazine, quoting Ashlee as saying, “I think that’s something a woman should do when they’re marrying a man. It’s a tradition that I think is a great tradition.” I think I’m alone on this one, but I find this tradition about as sexist as they come! (Alas, if only Jolie’s last name were something simple, like Davis or Smith, she’d be much less tempted to be a total hypocrite and change it anyway if she does eventually marry somebody with an easy last name.) But that’s neither here nor there; I’m loving Ashlee’s red hair, I think it suits her fun, quirky personality while simultaneously looking glamorous and flattering her complexion. Knowing how celebrities are quick to pounce on any trend, I wonder if any other starlets will hop on the red bandwagon anytime soon…

First, it came out today that Ashlee is pregnant, so no, she didn’t keep her virginity. I guess you get to pick and choose when you’re a traditionalist.
Second, I didn’t change my name when I got married. DH and I are not traditional in any sense of the word so it didn’t matter to us if I changed it or not. Another part of the reason had to do with DH’s family. In-laws and I have some issues and I didn’t want to have in-laws’ last name. Of course, when they found out I didn’t change it and DH tried to explain why, they didn’t get it. I’ve been slammed by women, men, old, young for not changing, but it’s such a personal decision that should only matter to the two people involved.

Oh for god’s sake, why why why! You all need to GROW UP! It’s not like she said she likes to kill people! So what if she said it’s traditional to take a man’s last name when marrying them!
Erm… it is, she’s stating a fact! And her own harmless opinion on the subject.
Everyone has the right to live their life as they choose as long as what they do does not hurt or upset others.
Yes it is a personal decision that should only matter to the two people involved, so why the hell are you commenting and getting involved!

Oh and it’s also a tradition that when you marry everything that’s his (including bank accounts) is half yours, but I bet that’s another TRADITION you all are probably willing to follow and not complain about! Stop being so bitchy and start acting your age instead of like jealous little 16 year old school girls!
