More photos from the Cannes amFAR benefit
Hey, why not? It’s Friday and I’m feeling tired; looking at pretty photos is all I can really handle right now.

I think Madonna looks beautiful and all peachy-glowy, but I’m not digging her roots

Diane Kruger’s hair and makeup are stunning, and so is the dress in theory, but it does nothing for her (gorgeous) figure. Can we call a moratorium on potato-sack dresses, even super-expensive gilded ones?

Mary J. Blige is gorge…but no smile? You’re in Cannes, my dear! Lighten up!

Rose McGowan is crazy witchy here; all she needs is a broomstick and caldron! Regardless, the red hair is stunning against her pale skin

I don’t understand Dita Von Teese’s appeal; can somebody please explain to me? (Maybe I just have a mental block because the Blogger Who Shall Not Be Named loves her.) Gorgeous dress, but the jet black hair is too harsh, especially when combined with blood red lips and markered-on eyebrows

Natalia Vodianova is a fascinating example of the “takes gorgeous photographs” versus “is actually pretty in person” conundrum; she’s one of the most beautiful models in the world, yet whenever she’s on a red carpet, she’s verging on plain. Love her anyway!

Ok, despite the fact that The Blogger Who Must Not Be Named loves her (and, let’s face it, he has questionable taste) I have to sort of defend… explain?… Dita.
She is basically the epitome of old Hollywood… perfectly coiffed Veronica Lake waves, perfectly applied red lipstick, perfectly groomed eyebrows, perfect porcelain skin, and an impeccable sense of style. The raven hair is harsh, but I for one think it works for her… particularly because of the look she is going for. Sure, she could lighten the base and get some highlights in there… but it would ruin the whole smoldering-Hollywood-icon thing.
She never shows up in public (much less at an event) looking dowdy or not put together… and I basically covet her entire wardrobe.
Plus, someone who can look that glamorous and garner that kind of respect when her job essentially involves taking her clothes off in a gigantic martini glass… well, that is at least a little impressive.

I don’t understand how you don’t understand Dita’s appeal:) Her classic pin up style is so sexy and borderline naughty without ever being crass!
